How you can benefit by offering job sharing: AGL’s flexible working arrangements

Offering flexible work arrangements, including job sharing, is a great way to attract highly skilled professionals. AGL promotes this as part of their employer brand in this engaging short video.

According to Randstad’s 2018 global Employer Brand Research Report 2018, we are seeing: “shifts in attitudes that indicate workers want more than just an attractive salary and benefits. A good work-life balance, career growth opportunities and flexible work arrangements are increasingly important qualities they seek in a potential employer.”

In their video, “Why job sharing works for us”, AGL features two of their Senior Managers for Sustainability as they discuss how job sharing suits their personal and family needs during the current stage in their careers.

AGL benefits by gaining two unique skillsets for the price of one, with each employee working part-time. One is an engineer, and the other is a lawyer, so they both bring their unique skill sets and perspectives to the table. They express the need for communication and trust in order to work effectively and make the most productive use of their time

“At this point in my life and my family’s life, working full-time is not an option. So the ability to work flexibly means that I can participate in the workforce and work in a role I really enjoy, for a leader I think is great, and for a team I think make a big difference in AGL.”

“It’s great, as job-sharing managers who work flexibly that we can be role models for our team members, and they know they can take advantage of flexible working options that AGL has to offer.”

What flexible working arrangements does your organisation offer? How do you build this into your Employee Value Proposition (EVP)? Let us know in the comments.
